Grandparents play a vital role in my twins lives

Grandpa Jim read to the girls.
Audrey tries on Grandpa Lee's boots.

My girls are lucky to have grandparents that are involved in their lives.  I think it is important for them to be around older people, more seasoned people.  They seem to appreciate the little things in life (two little girls) anyways. So on this Valentine's day my heart appreciates mine and my husband's parents who play an active role in my girls lives.

A Passage in Time

Yesterday we finally decided to shut off the lights on our big tree in the front yard.  It is always a welcome sight when it gets dark so early to see this big tree full of lights.  One year we decided not to do the lights and I missed it sorely.  This year was memorable because the girls would see the tree out the window and squeal in delight - amazing it seemed like every night like they were seeing for the first time.  When we first got the lights up, there were a few strands that were not working so I think the girls must have caught some of the conversation because every night it was "Christmas lights - they are working!"  Amazing isn't it!  Picture of tree with Audrey near it.

The other picture is one of my favorites this winter.  It is of Jamie on a sled she looks so introspective.  Audrey & grandpa Jim are way behind her.

Off I run to fuse some wonder under to some fabric.  I've decided to see what I can come up with using snippets of fabric.  Hmmmm snippets sounds vaguely familiar, LOL.

Live long & prosper!

A study in discipline

Where does the creative impetus come from?  How does it work that the creative force can work through inertia?  I'm not sure of the answer but it is fun to think about.  I have this desire to do a creative project with the outline of my girlfriend's hands.  She is a massage therapist and besides being a beautiful woman, I find her therapist's hands especially lovely, full of healing and sensitivity.  I want to make a picture quilt 12 x 12 inches finished with borders and binding.  The only problem is I feel at a loss at how I should go about making something worthy of the healing power coming through her hands. So this will be my new project.  The uncertainty of the steps makes me want to procrastinate, but another part of me wants and needs to work this through.  Well wish me luck.

Science museum

Today the girls went to the Science Museum in St. Paul, MN.  They are a bit young to get the full learning experience, but I think they enjoyed it nonetheless.  The photo is of Jamie through a crystal ball. She looks like an alien.  The other picture is Sean & the twins.  This is one tired mom.

Happy 3rd Birthday Audrey & Jamie

My twin girls, Audrey & Jamie turned 3 today ~ February 4th 2011.  I love to see them get independent but I also mourn the loss of their angelic innocence. At 3 I feel they are seeing me and are assessing me.  Who am I to them?  Mother, nurturer, someone who will take care of most of their needs.  I hope our bonds will only stronger and deeper.

Blog Intimidiation

What is it about being the creative director of one's own blog that is so intimidating?  I know I should let everyone know about my blog so they can join and follow, but that means what exactly? hmm.....  Anyhoo, it is not going to happen yet.

I am waiting for a creative burst to happen so I can zero my focus and get busy sewing.  I love these bursts because time and effort of no consequence.  It is just sheer pleasure to be releasing the creativity.
