May BOM Wonky Log Cabin

It was a rainy day on Saturday and I got in the mood to get May's block done.  In using my scraps I didn't realize how much time I would spend trying to figure out what fabric to use. (??)

I am trying to have a cowboy theme in this quilt, but I don't like all the cowboy themed fabrics, so my quilt is turning out a little strange in my fabric choices.  Oh well, hopefully it won't be a total disaster.

I hope to get the other blocks done soon, now that I'm back in the swing of cutting, sewing and pressing.

Hope you are enjoying the last few days before school starts.  Or waiting for some cooler weather!

Family Time

I have been having a great summer so far visiting with family.  The family just got back from Nelson's resort on Crane Lake. My daughter Jamie caught a cold and now it has grabbed me and is munching away at my energy.   It is a mild virus and I hope I can shoo it away with some good grubs from the garden.

Here are some pictures.

The girls had to go up and over this tree on the path for our hike.

My dad is getting older and I have a keen appreciation for the time left I have with him.

Vermilion falls always makes for a good picture.

My brother touches the water.

The resort put this dock in and our family had fun jumping off of it.

My sister-in-law and sister relaxing on floaties.  I like to see mothers relaxing.  I know I sure do appreciate it when I can get it.

A multiracial brood of kids keeps us busy.

Our home away from home.

A beautiful sunset.

What is it about sunsets that just seems to relax me?  I do love a colorful sunset!

Have a great weekend!

Amigurumi Miss Bunny

I finished up my Amigurumi Miss Bunny by Mari-Liis Lille today.  She is so adorable.

As it so happens I learned about the invisible decrease stitch after I crocheted her head.  I look forward to making another amigurumi to see if I won't notice the bump on her face with the invisible decrease.  Oh well, it will also give me more practice on attaching her limbs, which is still challenging for me.  I adore Mari-Liis Lille's patterns.

I also photographed her in this environment, below.

As it also so happens, a Mr. Bunny pattern is now available.  He is super cute with hat and vest, here.   I must  crochet her a mate!

Have a great week.  I will be with family enjoying summer.

A Day at the Beach

Our family enjoyed a day at the beach.  We tried out our new sunshade, which was nice for me because I cannot tolerated being baked by the sun for too long. And nice for the whole family, especially the girls.

I am not going to be available to post a picture on Friday so I thought I would post earlier in the week and share our fun time at the beach. I am addressing an imaginary audience here, but I'm ok with that.

Audrey

I chuckle inside when I see this picture above.  Something about the seriousness of the boys and because all four of them are just so darn cute in their little toddler stage of life. Also, taking pictures on the beach is challenging because it is hard to see what is in the screen.  I had no idea the boys were in the shot until I got home.

A boy is playfully being thrown into the lake

And then there is this tired lady, above, who doesn't have the confidence to take off her shorts in the water.  I still am grateful for having a body that doesn't require any medications.  Our sunshade is the blue thing to the right of me.

Our little sunshade, not too good on windy days at the beach, but enough shade for my family to lay under until the sun starts to creep in and we bend our legs like a bunch of wimps.  Sunburn is serious and I did find a few spots on my back where the sunscreen did not make it.

Have a sunny day!
